Lee Brothers Side Kick Foundation Teacher Grant Program 2010-2011

The Lee Brothers Side Kick Foundation (LBSKF) is committed to providing and promoting educational opportunities which empower our youth and strengthen our community.

With the current economic conditions affecting our country, school systems and more specifically teachers, are being asked to do more exciting and interesting projects with fewer and fewer resources. Funding sources from the federal, state and local levels are being cut and programs eliminated due to the financial circumstances we face.

The LBSKF recognizes that teachers have projects they would like to implement that do not require major capital infusions. The Teacher Grant Program is designed to aid teachers with smaller projects so that these projects can be implemented and not require teachers to supply the funds out of pocket.

The LBSKF was pleased to award over $2,200 in grants for the 2009-2010 school year. For the 2010-2011 school year, the LBSKF has set a goal to provide at least $5,000 in grants in order to provide as many opportunities as possible for teachers in our area so they can purchase necessary school supplies to enable them to positively affect their students.

Proposal Guidelines

LBSKF's Teacher Grant program provides grants up to $200 to local area teachers interested in implementing an innovative educational project. Any proposal designed to enhance the education of the students will be considered provided that the described project:

• directly involves and/or benefits students
• cannot be funded through existing avenues of school district support

Any certified North Carolina teacher from an eligible school or group of teachers are eligible to apply for a grant. The list of eligible schools can be found at the end of this document.

If the teacher awarded the grant is no longer employed in that position, any materials and/or equipment purchased with Lee Brothers Sidekick Foundation grant funds will become property of the school.

Teachers receiving grants must implement the use of the materials/program during the 2010-2011 school year.

Application Procedure

Applicants should submit their proposals using the Application Form available through the LBSKF web site or at Lee Brothers Tae Kwon Do on Falls of Neuse Road. We will begin accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year on June 14, 2010 through October 1, 2010

Applications may be dropped off or mailed to Lee Brothers Tae Kwon Do at the following address:

Lee Brothers Side Kick Foundation
8604 Falls of Neuse Road
Raleigh, NC 27615

Review Process

Proposals are reviewed on a competitive basis by the LBSKF Board of Directors using the established set of evaluation criteria set forth in the grant application materials. Notification of awards will be made by October 31, 2010

At the conclusion of the grant project, the LBSKF asks for a brief report and tally of the project costs.

About the LBSKF

LBSKF is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization established in 2003. With a simple goal of making a difference in the community, we have been able to help grant numerous wishes to children through the Make a Wish Foundation. We have also given thousands of dollars in academic scholarship to college- bound students and thousands of dollars to a domestic violence shelter even becoming the largest donor for the shelter some years.

The LBSKF believes in developing the whole child, physically, mentally and emotionally and has always chosen projects to sponsor with these goals in mind. With the current state of the economy we have revised our mission and are focused on providing and promoting educational opportunities which empower our youth and strengthen our community. We believe education to be one of the most important facets in a child's life and we want to make sure teachers have the tools necessary to educate our children properly.

The LBSKF is run entirely by volunteers. We raise funds through the benevolence of our school members and through martial arts related events such as annual kick-a-thon, silent auction and now Movie Night just to name a few.
